i watched the latest video piece from alec soth at the new york times today.

as a viewer, i felt sad while watching it.

as an image-maker, i felt inspired & excited to make pictures as we drive across country this summer.

the video piece felt resonant and open, and i tried to image how soth made the images and the video. it feels like a combination of focused effortlessness. sometimes i forget that being open & following the process can be the most rewarding process. i spent so much time this year, during school, putting a lot of effort into making something happen and that effort didnt necessarily help me make good images.
